This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Korea. The Turkish Ministry of National Education added Korean to the list of second foreign languages for primary and secondary school education on February 22, 2017. It is expected that Korean language courses will be offered starting from next year’s fall semester and accordingly, there has been a growing interest in Korean among the Turkish public.

Responding to the increasing interest, the recent workshop focused on enhancing the skills of Korean language majors at university, who are expected to teach Korean to primary and secondary students in the future. The workshop was composed of presentations and special lectures on Korean language teaching methods in consideration of the different education environment and targets, and also on the most recent developments in Korean language education.
