KF Special Lectures on Korea 2020 Held Online
On November 12 and 13, the Korea Foundation hosted the “2020 KF Special Online Lectures on Korea” for students majoring in Korean language at about 20 universities across Viet Nam.

The special lectures dealt with topics that Vietnamese students majoring in Korean were particularly interested in. The following topics were presented by the respective experts: Korean Pronunciation (Prof. Eunkyung Yoon, Department of Korean Language and Multi-Cultural Studies, Daegu Cyber University); Presentations on Korean Pop Culture (Prof. Andrew Eungi Kim, Division of International Studies, Korea University); Korean Innovation on E-Commerce (Sung Ui Park, CEO of 3RLaps and Lecturer at Incheon University); and Careers in Korea (Eunju Kim, Personal Information Protection Officer at the Overseas Employment Team of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, KOTRA).

About 1,100 students attended the online lectures and actively participated in them through live chat and Q&A sessions. In a survey carried out after the lectures, students said they became more interested in Korea and found the lectures very useful and easy to understand as the presenters had not used too many difficult words.

Under the “KF Special Lectures on Korea” program, the Korea Foundation sends experts in Korean politics, economy, diplomacy, culture, and other areas to universities in countries that have less developed Korean studies programs or are considered strategically important to Korea. Between 2004, when the first lectures were held in Mexico, and 2019, the annual lecture program had been held at some 160 universities and institutions in 48 countries in Central and South America, Africa, and the Middle East. This year, the Foundation converted the program into an online format due to the COVID-19 crisis, and will continue to offer lectures on various Korea-related topics to overseas students interested in Korean studies and Korean language courses.
