Cultural Events in Diplomatically Important Regions

Overview

With the aim of making cultural exchange more active, the Korea Foundation organizes numerous arts and culture events, including performances of traditional and contemporary Korean music and dance, in regions of diplomatic importance and those with which Korea has historically enjoyed only limited exchange. In cooperation with the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant organizations at home and abroad, the Foundation hosts a diverse array of events promoting cultural diplomacy and highlighting outstanding cultural content to introduce Korean culture to a global audience.

Support for Cultural Events Hosted by Korean Diplomatic Missions Abroad

Overview

In cooperation with the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant organizations at home and abroad, the Korea Foundation provides support to various arts and culture events hosted by Korean diplomatic missions abroad, thereby promoting cultural diplomacy and introducing Korean culture to the world.

<Cultural Events Featuring Overseas Korean Artists>
The Foundation extends support to Korean diplomatic missions abroad for their organization of various cultural events featuring Korean artists active abroad in such fields as traditional and contemporary music, dance and arts. Under the program, the Foundation contributes to making the richness of Korean arts and culture widely known to the world, providing Korean artists abroad with an opportunity to appear on the international stage.

<Globalization of Korean Cuisine>
With the aim of strengthening public diplomacy through the promotion of Korean food culture around the globe, the Korea Foundation cooperates with the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs in providing support to a variety of food-related activities hosted by Korean diplomatic missions abroad. Such activities include Korean food tasting events, cooking classes and cooking competitions. In conjunction with events to introduce Korean cuisine, traditional cultural events are also organized to increase understanding of and interest in Korean culture.

Support for Culture and Arts Exchange Abroad

The Korea Foundation extends support to arts and cultural organizations abroad for their various Korea-related exchange activities including performing and visual arts programs. The Foundation makes efforts to enhance global understanding of Korean culture and arts, covering dance, theater, music and fine arts.


Eligibility

1. Overseas organizations organizing arts and cultural programs
2. Overseas universities with Korean studies centers or Korea programs
    - Applications from individuals will not be considered, and eligible organizations can apply for only one project per year
    - Korea-based organizations are not eligible for program support

Support for Exhibitions on Korea Hosted by Overseas Museums

Overview

The Korea Foundation provides support to prominent museums abroad for Korea-related exhibitions and cultural/educational programs in connection with their Korean galleries. Under this program, the Foundation introduces the depth of Korean culture to local visitors boosting interest in Korean galleries and Korea-related exhibitions.

Eligibility

1. Museums abroad with plans to organize Korea-related special exhibitions and education programs
2. Museums abroad with collections of Korean antiquities (Dispatch of Visiting Curators to Overseas Museums)
